Planning and Scheduling
The importance of a properly developed and managed schedule is critical to the success of a major project. From the study phase of a capital project a logically driven, Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule should be well thought out and in place prior to any major work taking place.
A logically driven schedule that is developed to an appropriate level of detail for a project’s phase and scope can be critical to forecasting challenges with sub-vendors, equipment, staffing levels, camp sizes, and any number of potentially project altering decisions. Starting from the study phase a project plan should be established to ensure that the project is realistic and will deliver value to the client.
Schedule management throughout the life of the project is equally important. When, inevitably, project scope changes or issues arise during design or installation it is vital to the projects success that a robust change management process is followed to ensure any cost or schedule overruns are managed and mitigates.
